What is the Curriculum?
One of the many reasons for our international recognition is a centralized, high quality curriculum that outlines what students are expected to learn and be able to do in all subjects and grades. Alberta¡¯s curriculum is designed to help students achieve their individual potential and create a positive future for themselves, their families and their communities.
The Alberta curriculum strives to:
• reflect the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes that students need to be well prepared for future learning and the world of work
• anticipate and plan for the needs of the future by considering the changes and developments in society such as trends in employment, globalization and advances in technology
• incorporate values of good citizenship and respect for different languages and cultures
• consider students¡¯ needs and abilities¡ªintellectual, social, emotional and physical¡ªat different ages and stages of growth
• integrate how the study of a subject contributes to student personal growth and development
• accommodate learning in different environments
• consider various ways of delivering a program to students, including new technologies and use of community resources such as distance learning and workplace learning.
Alberta Education ensures the needs of students so they have a smooth transitions from grade to grade, to post-secondary education and to the world of work.

What are the Alberta High School Diploma Graduation Requirements?
To earn an Alberta High School Diploma, students must successfully complete specific courses and write a comprehensive exam at the end of each course in their final year of grade 12.  The Alberta Diploma exam ensures that all students demonstrate the knowledge and skills to qualify for University or College.  Alberta students complete University preparation courses in Mathematics, Science and English.  In addition to University courses an Alberta Education allows students to explore a variety of courses and develop other interests and abilities that may help them in their future.

What is the value of attending a Canadian Alberta Accredited High School?
To receive accreditation, all international schools undergo an extensive application and evaluation process and must meet the accreditation standards outlined by the Province of Alberta Department of Education.  The evaluation process is completed during each school year to ensure the school continues to provide the same standards of educational excellence as any other school within the province of Alberta.  Accreditation confirms that the school has met the requirements for Alberta accreditation and that Alberta credentials will be issued to students who qualify upon the successful completion of Alberta courses and graduation requirements. Successful Grade 12 students will be eligible for an Alberta High School Diploma.
